Senior Luke Odegaard set a new Forest Lake High School boys tennis career record mark last Tuesday when he defeated John Holt of Roseville 7-6, 7-5.

Odegaard broke Ted Ericksonís former school record of 81 career victories.

ìIt was nice to see Luke get the school record with such a high quality match,î Rangers head coach Greg Patchin said.

In the match against Roseville, the Rangers lost by the narrow margin of 4-3. Odegaard and senior Jeff Kohler won in singles play. Kohler won his match 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.

The doubles team of sophomore Paul Hill - senior Ted Steiner won 1-6, 6-2, 6-4.

ìIt was an excellent match, but once again we lost close matches,î Patchin said. ìOur number two doubles and four singles just didnít finish.î

The Rangers then went on to lose another tough match to a talented Stillwater team.

Odegaard won his 83rd career victory 6-1, 6-1 while Kohler won his match 7-6, 3-6, 6-1 to record the Rangers only points in a 5-2 loss.

ìIt was a good match against a deep (Stillwater) Pony team,î Patchin said.

ìWe arenít a very deep team, and we are struggling a bit at doubles. If we continue to work hard weíll be OK by mid-May.î

The Rangers next match is at 3:30 p.m. today, Thursday, at White Bear Lake.
