Julie Ohman, director of Community Education in ISD 831, has been elected chair of the non-profit and all volunteer Forest Lake Area Childrenís Fund. She replaces Dan Poepard as chair. Poepard, who retired as director of community education earlier this year, was elected secretary of the board of directors during the annual meeting Monday, Nov. 6. Now in its 20th year, the childrenís fund, working in partnership with schools in the Forest Lake area, provides winter coats, jackets, caps and boots to children in need. Last year the Forest Lake Area Childrenís Fund provided 152 area youth with a total of 589 winter clothing items.
