Honoring veterans in Forest Lake
Veterans from all branches of the Armed Forces and veterans of all ages and all American conflicts were honored on Friday and Saturday as the community took time to recognize those who served and to remember the day that signaled the end of World War I. At Forest Lake High School, students and staff were joined by the combined color guard of VFW Post 4210 and American Legion Post 225 to honor the day. The color guard was joined by three high school students who have already enlisted in the military. Pfc. Mike Stilwell, Pvt. Dan Carlson and Pfc. Brandon Sunberg stood at attention with senior comrades. The Rev. John Blackford of Forest lake was the guest speaker on Saturday for the combined VFW Post 4210-American Legion Post 225 Veterans Day observance hosted thisi year by the VFW Post.
