Jail and bail will help food shelf

A jail and bail event in Forest Lake today will raise needed funds for the Family Pathways food pantry here.

The goal of the drive on Nov. 2 is to raise $5000 to support the local food shelf that serves people in need in northern Washington County and Wyoming.

The public is invited to stop by the jail house at Famous Daveís, 43 SW 19th St., at 1 p.m. on Thursday, to watch the festivities.

A number of local celebrities, including Forest Lake Mayor Terry Smith, County Commissioner Dennis Hegberg and John Berken of Forest Lake Ford, have agreed to be ìsuspectsî and will be jailed during the event, said Lynn Kirk, development manager for Family Pathways.

Each suspect will be asked to post ìbondî of $250 to Family Pathways to earn their release.

Mike Muske of ERA Muske Co. Real Estate, will serve as judge for the event.

Muskeís company has joined Wal-Mart in Forest Lake, Forest Lake Ford and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans as bail bond companies for the fund-raiser and will match up to $1000 each to help the fund-raiser, Kirk said.

Suspects taking part will be subject to warrant sheets and will the suspects will be picked up by the Family Pathways undercover ìpoliceî unit donated by Forest Lake Ford.

Mug shots will be taken of each suspect at Famous Daveís and suspects will be asked to post bail. Each suspect must appear before Judge Muske.

All bail money donated for the event is tax-deductible.

The public is welcome to visit today between 1-2:30 p.m. and enjoy the fun.

Area residents wishing to make donations to the food shelf may do so at Famous Daveís on Thursday.
