What is expected to be the final meeting of the Memorial Hospital District Governing Board will take place tonight (Thursday) at American Legion Post 225, 344 W. Broadway Ave. The session starts at 6 p.m. with a board member dinner and the completion of the final steps that are relative to dissolving the hospital district that for 45 years served Forest Lake, Hugo, Lino Lakes, Columbus and Centerville. With the 10-year lease to Fairview Healthcare Systems ending earlier this year and the hospital campus land transferred to Fairview, the past year has been spent in steps to decertify the district. The Nov. 9 meeting will be spent passing resolutions relative to the dissolving of the district and approving other final housekeeping chores such as approval of minutes and any remaining bills that must be paid. Election results from Tuesday's vote will also be canvassed and approved, although those on the ballot will never take office.
