Grant will fund Ebenezer senior housing
Ebenezer has been awarded a grant of $3.4 million from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to support a housing development for low-income elderly residents in Wyoming.
The grant will be used to build a 32-unit apartment complex for seniors on the Fairview Lakes Medical Center campus and includes a $340,800 three-year subsidy to make the new units more affordable for residents.
Market studies have identified an unmet need for subsidized supportive housing for older adults and persons with disabilities in the Wyoming community.
ìWeíre very pleased to provide supportive and affordable housing for older adults in the Wyoming community,î said Mark Thomas, Ebenezer president and CEO.
ìThis project is consistent with a comprehensive plan completed by the city of Wyoming in 1999, which sought to provide a broader range of housing options for Wyoming seniors.î
Ebenezer currently provides assisted living and memory care for seniors at its Meadows on Fairview facility.
The new facility will be located nearby and become an integral part of the 100-acre development plan for the Fairview Lakes Health Services campus, which includes an award-winning hospital and clinics.
ìWe look forward to the collaboration between Ebenezer and Fairview Lakes Health Services to continue to bring outstanding services to the older adults in the Lakes region,î said Dan Anderson, president, Fairview Lakes Health Services.
Residents of the new apartment complex will have seamless access to the Fairview Health Services network, including home care services through Fairview Lakes HomeCaring & Hospice.
Senior residents will also benefit from strong, established relationships that Ebenezer and Fairview have with Chisago County for alternative care grants, elderly waiver and CADI (Community Alternatives for Disabled Individuals) programs.
