Incumbent State Rep. Ray Vandeveer held a slight lead over DFL challenger David Francis in the race for the District 52 Senate seat vacated by Michele Bachman who ran for the U.S. House Sixth District seat.

Vandeveer polled 18,589 in 30 of 33 precincts reporting. Francis drew 17,528 votes.

Forest Lake schools teacher Bob Dettmer led Forest Lake School Board member Rob Rapheal in a race to succeed District 52A Rep. Ray Vandeveer.

With 11 of 12 precincts reporting, Dettmer polled 9657 votes to 8101 for Rob Rapheal.
