City filings close, 3 file for Mayor, 8 for city council
As city filings came to a close on Tuesday, Sept. 12, a total of 11 people signed up to fill seats on the Forest Lake City Council.
Both Greg Vukich and Stev Stegner will challenge Mayor Terry Smith for his position. Bo Bogotty, Barbara Sterns, Susan A. Young, Joseph (Joe) Will and Paul Smieja filed for the two, four-year positions. Earnest Caine, Bruce Anderson and Gregory Ochs filed for the two-year position on the council.
The city council will have four positions available including mayor and three council seats. Council members Rick Ashbach, Susan Young and Greg Ochs and Mayor Terry Smithís terms will expire Dec. 31, 2006. Ashbach and Youngís council terms are for four years while Ochsí, who filled in for Dick Tschida, position will only last two years.
The council election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
