Columbus Fest is Saturday, Sept. 23

On Saturday, Sept. 23, ěThe City of Columbusî will host its annual Fall Fest for the 28th year. Sponsored by the Columbus Lions, the focus of the Fall Fest is for the community to get together for an annual garage sale, a free petting zoo, pony rides, craft booths, a raffle and much more. The fest runs from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at 16319 Kettle River Blvd., with the garage sale getting its start an hour early at 8 a.m.

There will be a Fire Hall open house where they will show their new ladder truck to the public as well as an Anoka County Sheriff K-9 exhibit, which begins at 3 p.m. A Wellness Van will be a part of the middle of the day, offering free health screenings from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For the younger generation there is the petting zoo from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., pony rides, kids games, face painting and tasty treats like mini-donuts, cotton candy and snow cones.

Donít miss the Lions beef sandwiches and hotdogs, or the big raffle. With over 60 prizes to be given away, the drawing for items like a John Deere power blower, a canopied patio swing and a remote control airplane begins at 4 p.m. Raffle tickets are $1 or 6 tickets for $5.
