Volunteers are being sought by the Forest Lake Community Association to help review and audit the results of its recent opinion survey here.

The association goal is to secure at least two volunteers from each of the city of Forest Lakeís five voting precincts to do the audit in late September or early October.

In August, the FLCA sent a community opinion survey to households in the city. Richard Pecar, a spokesperson for the association, said 1030 surveys were returned with a total of 38,919 questions answered by residents of Forest Lake.

The raw data from the surveys have been tabulated in a computer program. For the audit, the volunteers will be asked to double check each of the individual computer entries to the original opinion form.

ìWe think it is very important for the public to get to handle the raw data,î Pecar said.

He said the audit by volunteers will be a way for the public in general to have confidence in the validity of the survey results.

The FLCA would like to begin the audit the week of Sept. 18 or Sept. 25.

Anyone from Forest Lake interested in helping with the audit should call the FLCA at 612-382-0527. A location in Forest Lake for the audit is yet to be selected.

The survey asked residents of Forest Lake a total of 40 questions on community topics that ranged from police and fire protection to the topics of roundabouts and the community center. The survey also asked residents to rate the job performance of city staff and locally elected officials.

Once the volunteer audit is completed, the FLCA plans to release the results to the general public.
