The Washington County Board of Commissioners has approved a new name for recently merged county departments. Residents seeking help in areas such as property records, assessment, elections, taxes or licenses can still contact the same Washington County offices, but when they do theyíll be greeted by a new monicker. The departmentís new name, Washington County Property Records and Taxpayer Services, was recently approved by the county board. The Assessment, Taxpayer Services and Elections Department in late July merged with the County Recorderís Office. Commissioners said that several mergers of county offices have taken place in the last decade, often contributing to more efficient operations and encouraging better customer service through one-stop shopping.
