The official results had not been released as of Tuesday, Sept. 12, but the girls swimming and diving team had another brilliant showing - this time at the White Bear Invitational, which was held at the University of Minnesota.

The performance on September 9 was highlighted by diver Janel Duffy. She took the lead from the jump and ended up winning by 40 points over the second place finisher. Rounding out the diving performances were Erin Eagen, who took third, and Scotti Sampair, who came in eighth place; making Forest Lake the only school to have all three of its divers make the top 10.

ìThe girls showed that they are a team to be watched throughout the season,î noted head diving coach, Deb Welch.

On the swimming side, the medley relay team of Mary Walters, Sarah Williamson, Amanda Nelson and Gaby Bunten roared to a 1:58.18 finish, putting them just .45 off the school record that was set last year.

Head coach Rochelle McKenzie was extremely proud of seven swimmers who turned in lifetime bests during the meet: Sarah Morris in the 100 free; Camille Gross in the 50 free; Ashley Schmitz in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay splits; Erin Liljedahl in the 200 free relay split; Lindsey Quale in the 400 free relay split and Natalie Emholz in the breastroke during her 200 medley relay split.

Last year, the Rangers ended up in sixth place in this meet, but this year they moved all the way up to third.

ìThe girls are pretty geared up for our first conference meet on Thursday against Cretin-Derham Hall,î McKenzie shared. ìI think we might surprise some people.î
