Francis resumes Senate campaign

David Francis, DFL-endorsed candidate and 15-year resident of Stillwater, has announced that he is resuming his campaign for the District 52 seat in the Minnesota Senate. This Senate seat is currently held by Sen. Michele Bachmann.

In July, Francis put his campaign on hold to lead the ongoing search for his son Jonathan Francis who disappeared in Idahoís Sawtooth Mountains. During an August newspaper interview, Francis expressed his desire to rejoin the contest:

ìAs a long distance runner, ì2nd Timothy (4:7) is a favorite and inspirational scripture for me and it sums up why I will remain in the campaign: ìI have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.î

Repeating his campaign theme of; ìWe can do better,î Francis has vowed to be a voice for all of the people in the district and to work in the Minnesota State Senate to find common ground for the common good.

He will focus his campaign on issues that strengthen Minnesota and help the state and its residents to succeed. ìWe need to move Minnesota from the political extremes back into the mainstream,î Francis said.

Francis and his wife Linda have four children and five grandchildren.

A retired Navy Captain and Nuclear Submarine Officer, with 30 years of service as an active and reserve member, Francis also has extensive experience in business. He has worked for 3M and IBM, and then became a business entrepreneur specializing in information technology, start-up companies.

Francis has helped several small businesses to be successful and knows the importance of making sound financial and investment decisions. Since winning the endorsement as the DFL candidate, Francis has received the endorsement of Education Minnesota and the AFL-CIO.

Additionally, Francis has the support of the DFL Veteranís Caucus, the St. Paul Building and Construction Trades Council, the Farmers Union-PAC, Pro-Choice Minnesota and most recently AFSCME.
