Police in Forest Lake may have found a clue to at least one ATM theft, but arenít sure which theft.
A citizen reported to police finding a cash cassette from an ATM in the northwest corner of the Lakeside Memorial Park swimming beach on Aug. 31. Chief of Police Clark Quiring said he is not sure if the cassette is linked to two recent thefts in Forest Lake.
The cassette was marked ìSnyder Drug Valley NE.î
Quiring said police would be investigating a serial number also found on the cash cassette to help pinpoint where it was from.
During August, an ATM was stolen from the Old Log Cabin restaurant on TH-97 and a machine was pried open at Upperdeck Grill and Bar just to the west of the swimming beach.
In both cases, an undisclosed amount of cash was likely stolen, the chief said.
