Tacos or lutefisk? Tacos or lutefisk? Letís see now?

Itís a difficult question for Swedes and Norwegians who canít walk past a lutefisk dinner, but in Scandia on Saturday, the answer is easy.

Itís tacos, of course.

Saturday marks the 32nd anniversary of Scandiaís Taco Daze celebration.

The event started in 1974 as a small community event that included a taco feed and bake sale by the Scandia Tennis Association to raise funds for the community tennis court project.

Now, the celebration includes a full day of events that include a parade, bike ride, dodgeball tournament, art fair and plenty of live music and other food items.

The theme for the 2006 celebration is ìBack to the 50ís.î

Tacos, of course, remain the trademark of the day and are prepared and served by local Boy Scouts at the Scandia Community Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday slate

The following is the Taco Daze schedule of events for Saturday, Sept. 9.

ï9 a.m., flag raising ceremony, Scandia Community Center.

ï9:30-10:30 a.m., Cloverleaf Bike Ride, Hay Lake Museum Lions Pavilion. Rides of three, eight, 15 and 30 miles offered. Riders may register Saturday morning.

ï10 a.m.-5 p.m., Art Fair, Scandia Community Center grounds.

ï10-5, Farmerís Market, Scandia Community Center grounds.

ï10-5, Games, Scandia Community Center grounds.

ï10-8, Taco Daze Dodgeball Tourney, Scandia Community Center grounds.

ï10:30 a.m., Kiddie Pet Parade, Scandia Plaza.

ï11-3, Swedish Sock Hop, Scandia Skating Rink.

ï11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Boy Scout Taco Feed, Scandia Community Center.

ï11 a.m. until gone, Scandia-Marine Lions Club cheese curds and mini-donuts, Scandia Community Center garage.

ïBeer and food garden, 11-10; Kids races, noon; midway games, noon-5; live outdoor music, noon-3, all at Meisterís Bar & Grill.

ï3 p.m., Taco Daze Grand Parade. Line-up is at 2. Parade is on Oakhill Ave N. (CR-52).Parade forms east of Meisterís and ends at the Scandia Elementary School parking lot.

ï4 p.m. until gone, Lions Chicken BBQ, Scandia Annex.

ïKaraoke, 5-7 p.m.; Idol Finale, 7; outdoor music, 8-11, all at Meisterís Bar & Grill.
