Whether itís a tight match against Hastings, or a breezy victory over Coon Rapids, the girls tennis team is taking care of business and racking up the wins. Their recent success has shot them up to No. 8 in the current Pioneer Press poll.

Last week, the Rangers rolled over Coon Rapids on Aug. 28, 6-1, as Paige Patchin, Quinne Patchin, Lauren Gravelle, Audrey Hanmer and Hilary Hazzard all won their singles matches.

On the doubles side, Sami Holien and Brianna Odegaard were victorious, as was the duo of Cassie Carpenter and Kathy Crudo.

The match was a nice warm-up for a tough battle against Hastings on Thursday afternoon. Forest Lake took this one 4-3, in what head coach Greg Patchin called, ìA good team win.î

Gravelle, a sophomore, moved up to No. 2 singles and came away with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 victory, while 8th grader Hanmer played as the No. 3 and scored a key win for Forest Lake.

Coach Patchin praised their efforts and noted that you donít often see players that young, and at such high positions, in the Suburban East Conference.

Paige Patchin won her singles dual 7-5, 6-2, and the team of Holien/Odegaard grabbed a win in No. 3 doubles to give Forest Lake the deciding game.

ìWell played match between two quality teams,î coach Patchin shared afterward.
