A night of partying and drinking at a Forest Lake home this winter that resulted in a sexual result will soon land a local man in court.
City police said this week that felony charges of criminal sexual conduct in the third-degree have been filed against a 20-year-old Forest Lake man stemming from a Feb. 17 incident at a home in the 6000 block of 190th St. N.
Although formal charges have been filed, the newspaper is not publishing the man’s name because he is in California on vacation and has not been served with the formal complaint.
According to police reports, the incident took place at home here where 20 to 30 young adults and some teens were partying. Police reports said the night included dancing and drinking games.
The victim of the sexual assault is a 19-year-old female from North Branch. She told police she went to an upstairs bedroom to sleep at one point during the party.
She woke to find the defendant having sex with her, police reports said. The assault took place at 4 a.m.
Once the man returns to Forest Lake and is served with the complaint, he will face a court date on the charge, police said.
A conviction carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and or a $30,000 fine.
Man hurt in blast is recovering
A man hurt in an explosion in Wyoming last Friday morning is recovering in the burn unit at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Daniel Shish, 38, of Brooklyn Park, a foreman at All Safe, 26443 Fallbrook Ave., was seriously injured when a medical E oxygen cylinder tank he was working on exploded.
Wyoming Fire Chief Dennis Berry said Shish remains in the burn unit with second degree burns over 35 percent of his body. He is also being treated for puncture wounds to his upper body and a broken ankle.
He is expected to recover.
Berry said the plant worker was performing maintenance and starting to loosen a valve on the tank when it exploded.
He was taken by ambulance to nearby Fairview Lakes Medical Center and immediately airlifted to the burn unit at the Minneapolis hospital.
No other injuries were reported, Berry said.
