Service center, library in FL on track
The Washington County Service Center and Library in Forest Lake is proceeding on schedule and is slated for a September opening. The Washington County Board of Commissioners received an update last week on progress for the service center while approving change orders relating to the electrical system. Parks Director Jim Luger said construction on the facility was going smoothly and he expected the county to be able to take control of the property in July or August. The building would be ready to open for business in September. The service center in Forest Lake will be home base for about 50 employees providing such services as Community Services case management, a Women Infants and Children nutrition program, and a license center offering county, state and federal permits, licenses and passports and more. A library more than four times the size of the current county facility in Forest Lake, will offer customers more computer options, a teen area complete with listening domes, a reading loft overlooking the landscaped courtyard and pond areas, and a drive-up book-drop for those returning library materials.
