The Washington County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of the last piece of property needed within the 2007-2008 Big Marine Park Reserve construction area. The Hohlt property is a 1.5 acre parcel off Lisbon Avenue, adjacent to Lomond Trail North in May Township. The county will begin construction of phase 1 of this park this spring. When finished, the park will include a boat launch, swimming beach, beach building, picnic areas, park office, parking and trails. The existing boat launch will be closed for 2007 during phase 1 construction. Camping and large group picnic areas will be provided in future phases. County officials plan to open the newly developed Big Marine Park Reserve by summer 2008.
