Night storm hammers FL neighborhood

Strong winds early Saturday morning ripped through a residential area of Forest Lake uprooting trees and damaging homes, garages and numerous vehicles. The storm hit around 3:30 a.m., leaving a large slice of the southwest area of the city without power. Numerous roads were blocked with downed trees and power lines. The Ballpark at Schumacher Field was also hit hard with extensive tree damage along the first base side of the field. The damage seemed to center on a three to four block area in the neighborhood to the north and west of the Central Learning Center. Some damage was also noted on the north side of W. Broadway Ave. One of the homes hit hard by the storm was Tony Grygelko's residence on the corner of SW 6th St. and 2nd Ave. where several trees were down. (Photo By Charlie Chalberg)
