With over 600 votes from the community the city of Forest Lake has a new logo.

On Monday, Aug. 13 the city council announced that the logo created by Andrea Oberg would be the new city logo.

The council took the recommendation from the Logo Design Review Committee.

The group recommended that the words “Forest Lake” be changed to “City of Forest Lake,” but they would discuss any changes with the artist.

The committee received approximately 20 different logos and four were chosen as finalists.

Linda LaCasse, Jason Dunlap and David Burgoyne’s logos, along with Oberg’s logo, were all chosen as finalists and were displayed in a booth during the fourth of July parade.

Ultimately the group decided on Oberg’s logo.

“While we felt the other three logos also reflected the character of our community we chose to recommend the logo that was most popular with the more people,” the committee said in a statement to the council. “We hope you will agree it is the strongest and vote to make it official.”

The council voted 4-0 to approve the logo.
