Family Pathways seeks donations

Qwest Pioneers, Metro Area, and Family Pathways Food Shelf in Forest Lake is seeking donations for their “Birthday in the Bag” service.

Birthday in the Bag is a service Qwest Pioneers is providing to food shelves all over Washington, Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin and Dakota counties.

Participants donate items such as cake mixes, canned frostings, matching plates and napkins and then Qwest Pioneers take donated money to purchase gift bags, candles, balloons, loot bags and a small gift and combine all of it into one large bag.

The bags are then brought to area food shelves to be handed out to make a special day for a child who may not have a special birthday otherwise.

In addition to the Birthday in the Bag items, Family Pathways Food Shelf is always looking for items for their regular food shelf.

Items the food shelf is always in need of include tuna, canned fruit, Helper meals, boxed/canned potatoes, canned tomato products, soups, juice, canned vegetables, pasta/rice, baked beans, kidney beans, and ramen noodles.

Personal care items like shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, tooth brushes, feminine products and other personal hygiene products are also needed.

Items for the Birthday in the Bag can be dropped off at Family Pathways Food Shelf located in Schilling Plaza, 255 Hwy 97, Suite 7B.

Donations can also be picked up if needed. Contact 612-663-1207 and leave a name and number to arrange a pick up.
