America’s Night Out against Crime will be celebrated next Tuesday in Forest Lake and Wyoming.
Led by the police departments of the two communities, National Night Out events are being planned locally in city parks and neighborhoods.
Wyoming Police Department events will be staged at Sunrise Community Park at Finland Avenue and 274th Street. The park event is slated from 6-9 p.m.
The park program will include a kids’ D.J., music and games, a moon jumper, a MADD display, a K-9 demonstration and crime prevention tips.
Visitors can see emergency vehicles and equipment with displays provided by the police department and Wyoming Fire Department.
Food will also be provided. Cub Scouts from St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Forest Lake will sell hot dogs and a drink for $1.
In Forest Lake, events are being planned at neighborhoods throughout the city with centralized events set at Lakeside Memorial Park in downtown Forest Lake.
At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, the police department will have a booth at Lakeside Memorial Park to answer questions and give out safety information.
The department will also have a certified car seat safety inspector on hand for those who want to have child seats inspected.
Police and Forest Lake Fire & Rescue equipment will be on hand for tours and a North Rescue ambulance will also be on hand for the public to inspect.
The park programs are in conjunction with the weekly Arts in the Park entertainment program and farmer’s market at Lakeside Park.
Forest Lake police, fire and medical personnel will also fan out throughout the city attending block parties that are part of the National Night Out celebration.
The national theme for the Night Out event is “Give Neighborhood Crime & Drugs a Going Away Party.”
