Sewer flood claimed 2 Hugo workers
The two sewer workers who perished in a flash flood in St. Paul on July 26 were employees of Lametti & Sons of Hugo. Joe Harlow, 34, of Plainview, and Davis Yasis, 23, of Maplewood, apparently drowned when they became trapped by fast-rising rain water while working underground in the city of St. Paul sewer system. Six other workers for Lametti & Sons managed to escape from the sewer system. The Hugo firm is a local contractor specializing in construction and rehabilitation of pipelines and tunnels, civil works, and marine services. The eight-member crew was working underground when the area was hit by a heavy rainfall during the mid-afternoon.
