School election judges get pay bump

Election judges who work ISD 831 elections were last given a pay raise in 2001, but that will change this fall when the school district conducts elections on Sept. 11 and Nov. 6. The school board on Aug. 2 voted to approve an hourly pay raise that puts the district in line with other area cities and townships. Election judges have been working for $8 an hour. The action last week bumps the hourly rate by $2 to $10 an hour. That rate falls in line with the hourly rate paid in Forest Lake, Hugo, Scandia and Marine on St. Croix. Prior to 2001, school election judges were paid $5.50 an hour. Board member Eric Langness suggested the district review its pay scales more frequently and grant smaller hourly bumps rather than $2 increases after a number of years.
