City of Ham Lake parks tobacco-free

The city of Ham Lake has become the seventh community to adopt a tobacco-free park policy in Anoka County. The Ham Lake City Council recently voted to adopt a tobacco-free policy for all city parks and recreation areas. The move was supported by the city’s park and tree commission. The actual policy was brought to the city by Girl Scout Troop 2077 with the belief that tobacco use in park areas is detrimental to health of those using the parks. Ham Lake is now one of 94 cities throughout Minnesota to prohibit tobacco use in city park and recreation areas. Additionally, Anoka County has a policy for county-owned parkland.
