Kalin has hunting bill for veterans
District 17B Rep. Jeremy Kalin, DFL-Lindstrom, has introduced legislation that would exempt veterans from being required to have a firearms safety certificate. Anyone born after 1980 is required to have the certificate when applying for a hunting license. In the case of veterans, Kalin described the requirement as “absurd.” Kalin said he wants to inject some common sense into the requirements. “My bill would apply common sense to the situation,” Kalin said. “It would exempt all honorably discharged veterans, who have completed basic training, from the firearms safety certificate requirement,” he said.
