Following countywide voter approval of the $20 million Land Protection Funding Referendum in Nov. 2006, the Washington County Board of Commissioners has set about the task of reorganizing county efforts in preserving open space by christening the new Washington County Land and Water Legacy Program. In addition to the new name, the county board at its Feb. 13th meeting designated the Washington County Parks and Open Space Commission as the citizen advisory committee working with the program and added two more members to the group. County commissioners also approved reassignment of the county’s principal planner to manage the Land and Water Legacy Program.
