The Scandia City Council is seeking volunteers to serve on a capital improvements committee to give advice and citizen input to the council on the need for capital projects (such as road improvements, buildings and major equipment purchases.) The city also continues to seek applicants for vacancies on the planning commission, the parks and recreation committee and for the comprehensive plan committee which will be working on the upcoming update of the city's long-range plans. A new commercial and retail development committee, to advise the council on the need for, type and location of commercial development in the city is also being formed. An application form is available at the city office and on the city's website at www.ci.scandia.mn.us. Applications should be submitted no later than Feb. 9, (please note new deadline) for interviews tentatively scheduled Feb. 13. The city council expects to make appointments to committees at its Feb. 20 meeting.
