School plans roofing, class projects
The ISD 831 administration has been given the green light to bid a roofing project and science classroom projects. Meeting in regular session on Feb. 1, the school board agreed to allow the staff to bid a roofing project at Forest Lake High School. Garland Company, Inc., will be retained to create bid specifications for the project. The bid opening will take place Feb. 28 with a project award by the school board on March 29. The board also agreed to move forward with science classroom projects at Century and Southwest junior high schools and the Central Learning Center. As a result of increased junior high science requirements from the state, the district has increased its credit requirement by a half credit. The requirement has resulted in additional facility needs. The upgrades to science rooms were reviewed by the board's building committee in January and will now go to formal bids written by Kraus-Anderson Construction Managers. A bid open is set March 28 with a bid award slated on May 3. Summer construction is planned.
