ISD 831 in Forest Lake is seeing another wave of teacher retirements. The school board on Feb. 1 approved retirement notices for 10 longtime teachers in the district. The 10 have a combined 317 years of experience. The list of retirees, their school and their years of experience is as follows: Richard Hofstede, Century, 37; Carol J. Young, Scandia, 36; Rob Stumm, Linwood, 35; Brian L. Johnson, Century, 34; Bob Dettmer, Forest Lake High School, 34; Jim Herman, Forest Lake High School, 33; Greg Patchin, Southwest, 33; Kathleen M. Hellen, Century, 31; Sylvia Nelson, Central Montessori, 26; and William J. Haring, on-leave, 18. Haring's retirement date is April 29. The other nine teachers will leave the employ of the school district on June 8. Dettmer, Herman and Patchin are also long time athletic coaches in the district.
