Anoka County Commissioner Dennis Berg was elected chair of the seven-member county board at its organizational meeting Tuesday, Jan. 2. Commissioner Jim Kordiak was elected vice chair. Berg has served on the county board since 1992, and has been a leader on transportation issues, including chair of the county's public works committee. County Commissioner Rhonda Sivarajah, who represents the Linwood and Columbus areas, was appointed chair of the human services committee on last week. "In the area of human services we will be focusing on foster parent recruitment, child protection, income maintenance and job training and senior services, including promoting services available to caregivers," Sivarajah said.
