Dogs star at science center winter festival

For fans of winter attending Saturday's Dog Sledding Winter Festival at the Wildlife Science Center, there was the hope for snow. It came late, arriving Sunday night, but winter-like weather has finally got a grip on the area with snow and below zero temperatures. The lack of snow on Saturday did not dim the fun in Columbus. Here Terry Miller of Hinckley was one of the mushers who brought sled dogs to the festival. She's pictured with Juliet, a three-year-old Inuit that is part of her team. There were young pups on hand, too. The day also included an informational booth of the Minnesota Alaskan Malamute Rescue organization, a volunteer group that works to assist malamutes in need.
