Best float in Martin Lake boat parade

Martin Lake in Linwood saw a big turnout for the annual Fourth of July boat parade this year. Hundreds of fans lined the lake to lob water balloons at the participating boats. Judges awarded trophies to the top three boats in the parade. First place went to the Smith-Buerkle boat “Noah’s Ark.” Second place went to the Erickson boat “Alien Abduction.” The Norton’s came in 3rd with “300.” Honorable mention went to ‘Paris Hilton’ who made a rare appearance at Martin Lake on Howie Nessle’s boat. Steve Milbrandt, president of the Martin Lake Association and his family served as judges. The Martin Lake Association has been holding the Fourth of July boat parade for more than 30 years.
