‘Race for the Rotary’ revs up on Aug. 11
The Forest Lake Rotary’s biggest fundraiser is the Race for the Rotary, and it is rapidly approaching on Saturday, Aug. 11.
Back by popular demand and for the third consecutive year, the Rotary will be hosting Go-kart racing at Northland Mall. This should be an all-day extravaganza with races beginning at 9 a.m. and lasting until 4 p.m.
Community members can drive as individuals, compete as a family or race with a local business sponsorship.
The entry fee is $125 per person, or $500 for a team of five, or $1000 for a team of ten. There are male and female classifications and all participants are eligible for a free practice run on Friday afternoon between 2 and 7 p.m.
For a yet to be determined fee, Pro-Karts will also allow residents to hit the track on Friday night.
In addition to the racing and the family fun, this event features a raffle. The tickets sell for $5 and prizes include:
Two airlines tickets, courtesy of Worry-Free Vacations and Forest Lake Travel; Ronco Counter Top Rotisserie BBQ oven; Let’s go shopping packages (more than one), gift certificates and merchandise courtesy of local businesses valued at $50-100 apiece; Sterling silver earrings, with small diamond and sapphire, courtesy of Carter’s Jewelry & Gifts; two pairs of Minnesota Wild tickets and one pair of Minnesota Twins tickets.
Proceeds support the work of the Rotary in the community, including a $2500 scholarship at Forest Lake High School; donations to Boy Scouts, Eagle Projects, Girl Scouts, Youth Service Bureau and many other local organizations as well as the Rotary’s work throughout the world, supporting orphanages in Mexico, water projects in Haiti and eradicating polio.
For tickets and information, contact Brian Raabe at 651-982-2026, or Doug Voss at 651-982-2039.
Come race, come watch, or just join in the fun with a raffle ticket.
