The candidate pool for the November school board election in ISD 831 has now grown to 12 as filings closed on Tuesday of this week.
The most recent candidates to file are Forest Lake residents James Heck of Forest Lake, Kenneth L. Engler of Forest Lake, Paul Olson of Ham Lake, Jim Banta of Wyoming, John N. Freed of Columbus, Jackie McNamara of Forest Lake, and Dick Tschida of Forest Lake.
They join a slate of candidates that includes:
•Incumbent Board President Bill Bresin of Forest Lake.
•Incumbent Joe Grafft of Linwood Township.
•Incumbent Rob Rapheal of Scandia.
•Incumbent Dan Kieger of Lino Lakes.
•Challenger Linda Nanko Yeager of Wyoming.
Bresin, Grafft, Rapheal and Kieger have announced that they are running as a team for the fall contest.
All four seats that are up for election on Nov. 6 are for four-year terms starting Jan. 1, 2008 and running through Jan. 2, 2012.
With 12 candidates filing for office, a primary election will be necessary. That vote will come on Tuesday, Sept. 11, according to state election law.
Candidates have until 5 p.m.,Thursday, July 19th to withdraw from the election.
