Own a piece of new sports complex
There are two easy ways for locals to support the new sports complex:
In Forest Lake, there are several ways local residents can support fundraising efforts for the new Arena and Field House being built by the Forest Lake Area Athletic Association (FLAAA) in the Headwaters development near the airport:
Recycle your used electronics
FLAAA has teamed up with EcoPhones to host a local electronics recycling program. For every used item collected at select drop-off sites, FLAAA will earn money. Eligible items include:
Cell phones, Inkjet printer cartridges, DVD movies and video games, Portable DVD players, Laptop computers, MP3 players, X Boxes and Playstations, Digital cameras and video cameras, Digital picture frames and GPS devices.
All manufacturers and models are accepted. Even non-working items are eligible for the program; they’re recycled in accordance with state and federal Environmental Protection Act guidelines. Items that are still working are refurbished and reused. For more information on the national recycling firm, go to www.ecophones.com
Employees are encouraged to ask their employers if they have used equipment to donate. One local resident is donating 200 used cell phones from his company.
Recycling drop-off locations include the Forest Lake VFW, ABBA Trophy and Mainstreet Bank in Forest Lake, and any of the five Village Banks, including East Bethel.
Buy bottled spring water
FLAAA is selling bottled spring water as another way to help raise funds. Local residents and businesses can buy it by the bottle ($1) or the case ($10) at ABBA Trophy, Forest Lake Cycle & Skate and Adevia Salon. Castlewood Golf Course is also selling it by the bottle.
