The Washington County Board of Commissioners has awarded the contract for construction of a transit center and trailhead in Forest Lake. The county board awarded the contract to Lund-Martin Construction Inc., Minneapolis, which bid $1.13 million on the project and was the lowest responsible bidder of 11 companies competing for the contract. The transit center includes indoor and outdoor waiting areas, public restrooms, a vending area and mechanical space. A 300-space parking lot and Hardwood Creek Trail connection would also be constructed. The new transit center will go in across the street from the new Washington County Service Center and Library in Forest Lake, which is scheduled to open this fall. The transit center is expected to be operational by the end of 2007.
