TH-97 closed starting July 9
Starting Monday, July 9 the Minnesota Department of Transportation will start resurfacing TH-97 between I-35 in Columbus, and TH-95 east of Scandia. As work begins TH-97 will be closed between I-35 and US-61. The ramp from northbound I-35 to TH-97 will also be closed.
Access for residents and to businesses along this section of TH-97 will be provided throughout the closure. Other traffic will be detoured along Broadway Ave. and US-61.
The project also includes culvert replacement and installation of curb and gutter on TH-97 between I-35 in Columbus, on TH-95 near Scandia, and on US-61 from just south of the junction of US-61 and TH-97 to the junction of US-61 and US-8 in Forest Lake. The ramp from northbound I-35 to TH-97 also will be widened.
Weather permitting, the section of TH-97 between I-35 and US-61 along with the interstate ramp, will reopen by Wednesday, August 8.
Work on the remaining section of TH-97 between US-61 and TH-95 will begin after August 9, along with culvert replacement on US-61.
At various times, traffic will be reduce to single lanes. Major completion of the project is expected by mid-November.
Gravel trucks running from Scandia to the Harness Track in Columbus will be rerouted to County Road 4.
