The hiring process continues for the 10 instructional coaches — five at the elementary level and five at the secondary level —who will work with the ISD 831 teaching staff to help district students achieve academic improvement under the new Q Comp program. While the goal is to hire the 10 coaches from within the current tenured teaching staff, Superintendent Lynn Steenblock said the administration may utilize some retired teachers who will be asked to come back to work as instructional coaches. The district hopes to have the instructional coaches hired and in training this month. The Q Comp program was approved by the ISD 831 School Board and the Forest Lake Education Association in June. A combination of state aid and a local property tax levy will pay for the program.
