FL Relay for Life updates

On Friday, August 3 and Saturday, August 4, 40 teams and over 100 supporters, will be at the Forest Lake High School track to support the American Cancer Society by participating in Relay for Life.

Beyond the actual Relay, the fund raising event has several opportunities for area residents to participate without stepping on the track.

Below are just a handful of the ways area residents can enjoy the Relay and help the American Cancer Society.

• Relay Raffle: Relay will be raffling off two round-trip tickets to Miami and a 7-day Caribbean cruise on the Norwegian Sun this year. Tickets are $5 and are available from Relay participants or the Yellow Bus store.

• Cancer Awareness and Resource Fair: For the first time, the Relay is adding an educational component to Relay. They plan to have a mobile PET imaging unit open for everyone to walk through and ask questions. They also have clinic, hospital and radiation center as well as service representatives scheduled to be there to promote and provide information.

• Luminaries: Lining the track the night of the Relay are hundreds of luminaries that are dedicated in honor of a loved one who is dealing with cancer, a survivor of cancer or to someone who was lost to cancer. Luminaries are $10 per bag and can be purchased from any Relay team member or the night of the Relay.
