Maxton Kelly takes 3rd place

At the 2007 Westfield Junior Minnesota PGA Championship, held on Wednesday, June 27, Forest Lake's Maxton Kelly took third place in the 12-and-Under classification with a score of 60. Kelly was two shots behind winner Conrad Hahne's 58.

19th Lindstrom Loppet 5K

Fairview Lakes Health Services announced that registration is now open for the 19th Annual Lindstrom Loppet 5K walk/run. Set for Saturday, July 14 at 8 a.m. at Lakes Free Church in Lindstrom, this year’s race will again feature computer chip timing. To facilitate computerized timing, preregistration is strongly encouraged. Advance registration fees remain $10 for children age 13 and under, and $15 for those age 14 and older. Day-of-event registration is $15 for children age 13 and under, and $20 for people over age 13. To qualify as advance registration, completed registration forms and fees must be mailed by July 9 or dropped off at the above-mentioned locations no later than noon Thursday, July 12.

Same-day registration will be accepted from 7-7:45 a.m. on race day. Persons who register after 7:45 a.m. July 14 cannot be guaranteed a number or a computerized time. The race once again begins and ends at Lakes Free Church (formerly called Chisago Lakes Evangelical Free Church) 29620 Olinda Trail, Lindstrom. For more information, contact 651-257-8806.

Hockey's golf fundraiser

Forest Lake High School Ranger Hockey is hosting its 17th Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser on Saturday, July 14 at Chisago Lakes Golf Course. Come support Forest Lake hockey with an afternoon of golf, and then stay and relax with a delicious dinner. Or just come for the dinner! There will also be raffles and a silent auction. Shotgun start at 12:30 p.m., social hour begins at 5 p.m., dinner is at 6 p.m., and raffles and silent auction begin at 7 p.m. Registration deadline is July 6. Contact Ron Moberg at 651-464-1058.

Summertime swim invitational

The 2nd Annual Forest Lake Community Summer Swim Invitational will be Saturday, July 21 at Southwest Junior High. The invitational is for boys and girls from grades 5-12, and the competition begins at 10 a.m. Excluding diving, the meet will follow a high school schedule of events. The cost is $10 per swimmer and each athlete may participate in four events (no more than two of which are individual events). CHH golf fundraiser on Aug. 5

The Community Helping Hand golf fundraiser will be on Sunday, Aug. 5 at Castlewood Golf Course. Tee times will start at 1 p.m., and the cost is $200 per four-person team. The fee includes nine holes of golf, two power carts and tickets for door prize drawings. This benefits Community Helping Hand of Forest Lake and the Community Helping Hand Food Shelf. Forest Lake Chamber and Patriot Bank's 20th annual golf tourney

The Forest Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Patriot Bank invite you to attend their 20th Annual Golf Tournament, Monday, August 6, 2007, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. at Forest Hills Golf Club, 7530 N 210th St, Forest Lake. This year’s event is set to be a memorable one, with many special prizes and contests, so get your foursome together and register soon. If you don’t have a foursome, the chamber can help place you on a team.

Register by July 27 for $130 per person, which includes dinner, cart, and 18 holes. After July 27 the fee is $155 per person. Call the chamber for more information and a registration form at 651-464-3200.

The Chamber only has a couple corporate and hole sponsorships available, contact the chamber office to receive more information about these opportunities. Corporate sponsorships are $750 and include four golfers, cart and dinner. Hole sponsorships start at $50 for chamber members.
