Effective immediately the city has enacted a sprinkling ban with specific watering hours for all residents with city water.

Currently the city states that “those homes with even numbered addresses will be able to sprinkle their property on even numbered calendar days. Those homes with odd numbered addresses will be able to sprinkle their property on odd numbered calendar days.”

Now the lawn sprinkling ordinance states that “the sprinkling ban allows sprinkling only between the hours of 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Due to rainy weather during the first weekend in June, The Laker’s 4th of July fund raising events have been rescheduled for this Friday, June 15.

Starting at 3 p.m. and continuing until midnight, The Laker will be holding the events that were rained out on June 2.

Food will be served as people enjoy the dunk tank, bar stool races and dance the night away at the street dance.

City Audit

Prior to the regular city council meeting, a special meeting was held to listen to a presentation on the results of the 2006 city audit.

Matt Mayer, presented the council with the findings from Kern, DeWenter and Viere who performed the auditor’s report on legal compliance.

The Minnesota Legal Compliance Audit Guide for Local Government covers seven categories when auditing local government agencies that include contract and bidding, deposits and investments, conflicts of interests, public indebtedness, claims and disbursements, miscellaneous provisions and tax increment financing.

All of which were in compliance with Minnesota State Statutes Section 6.65.

Mayer also presented a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and said the general fund performance revenue came in at $7.3 million, “a little over than anticipated.”

He said expenditures came in at $8.8 million, just over what the city had expected.

Mayer said the expenditures were greater than expected because of unanticipated “legal fees with an annexation, accounting software, fiber network and timing of the fire truck purchases.”

However, Mayer said, both the “financial statement and legal compliance are clean.”
