Seniors receive awards, scholarships at June 4 ceremony

During the 21st Annual Academic Awards Ceremony on Monday, June 4, 123 students received national, regional and local awards and scholarships from a variety of organizations.

The students recognized are listed below.

Brenda Abel, daughter of Ross and Donna Abel, is planning to attend Hamline University in the fall and has plans to major in Criminal Justice. Able received Highest Honors from FLHS, a Honors Scholarship from Hamline University, a Connexus Scholarship and a Tozer Scholarship.

Jennifer Abress, daughter of John and Mary Abress, is planning to attend Winona State University and has plans to major in Nursing. Abress received the John Allquist Memorial Scholarship and the Birchwood Health Care Scholarship.Aaron Anderson, son of Craig and Roxanne Anderson, is planning to attend the University of Wisconsin River Falls and plans to major in History. Anderson received Captain Dan’s Scholarship.

Brandon Anderson, son of Jill Anderson and Jim Miklausich, is planning to attend the University of St. Thomas but is undecided on the focus he will pursue. Anderson received the St. Thomas Academic Scholarship and the St. Thomas Award.

Meredith Armstrong, daughter of Barbara Simon and Peter Armstrong, is planning to attend the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and is planning to major in Music Education. Armstrong received a Wind/Percussion Division Scholarship, as well as the General Community Scholarship and the Robert M. Land Memorial Scholarship.

Michael Bender, son of Betty and Bill Bender, is planning to attend Bethel University and has plans to major in Business. Bender was recognized with Honors at FLHS as well as receiving the Lydia Holm Scholarship.

Danna Bergantine, daughter of Ron and Mary Ann Bergantine, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota Morris and has plans to major in Elementary Education. Bergantine was recognized with awards including Highest Honors from FLHS, a Morris Scholarship, the Scandia Lions Scholarship, the Tozer Scholarship and the Connexus Scholarship.

Heidi Bolenbaugh, daughter of Gary and Elaine Bolenbaugh, is planning to attend Bethel University but is undecided on the focus she will pursue. Bolenbaugh was recognize with awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS and the Wyoming Principals Scholarship.

Christopher Bombeck, son of Dave and Lori Bombeck, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota Duluth and has plans to major in Computer Science. Bombeck was recognized with awards and scholarships including the Honors Academic Scholarship and the General Community Scholarship.

Amanda Bosman, daughter of Teresa Bosman, is planning to attend Moorhead State University and has plans to major in Psychology. Bosman was recognized with awards and scholarships including Honors from FLHS, the John Allquist Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500, the Wyoming Lions Club Scholarship and the General Community Scholarship.

Brandon Braaten, son of Greg and Kari Smith, is planning to attend the Hamline University but is undecided in the focus he will choose.

Theresa Brenberg, daughter of Robert and Mary Brenberg, is planning to attend the University of Notre Dame and has plans to major in Environmental Engineering. Brenberg received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the Tozer Scholarship, the District Administrator’s Scholarship, the Sam Walton Community Scholarship, and the Wyoming PTA Scholarship.

Aaron Brown, son of Paul and Brenda Brown, is planning to attend North Dakota State University and has plans to major in Architecture and Music. Brown received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the Freshman Academic Scholarship, the Music Department Challey Scholarship, the FLK Masonic Lodge Scholarship, the Rasmussen Scholarship, the Sean Parenteau Scholarship and the Support Our Fine Arts Scholarship.

Kristi Buerkle, daughter of Jeff and Teri Buerkle, is planning to attend Bemidji State University and has plans to major in Elementary Education. Buerkle received awards and scholarships including High Honors from FLHS, an Athletic Scholarship and the Athena Award.

Kelsey Burk, daughter of Linda and Terri Burk, is planning to attend Lawrence University and has plans to major in Oboe Performance and Math. Burk received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the Richard Warch Scholarship, the Tozer Scholarship and the Pat Cheyne - Education/Mathmatics Scholarship.

Samantha Cole, daughter of Kathleen Cole, is planning to attend the University of Wisconsin River Falls and has plans to major in Spanish and Speech Pathology. Cole received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the Anderson Foundation Scholarship, the Tozer Scholarship, the Sam Walton Community Scholarship, the Forest Lake Area Athletic Association Scholarship, the Scandia-Marine Lions Scholarship, the Sedlacek-Cohoes-Lions Education Scholarship, the Leah Hillsheim Award and the Allina Medical Clinic Scholarship.

Kari Colucci, daughter of John and Nancy Colucci, is planning to attend the College of St. Catherine and has plans to major in Nursing. Colucci received awards and scholarships including Honors from FLHS, St. Catherine of Alexandria Scholarship, the Fairview Health Services/Diversity Scholarship and the General Community Scholarship.

Andrew Cremisino, son of Dan Cremisino and Deanna Pesek Cremisino, is planning to attend the University of St. Thomas and has yet to decide a focus to pursue. Cremisino received awards and scholarships including High Honors from FLHS, the St. Thomas Academic Scholarship, the Italian American Club Foundation Scholarship, the Forest Lake Area Athletic Scholarship, the Hallberg Family Foundation Scholarship and the United States Army Distinguished Athlete Award.

Chloee Daniels-Miller, daughter of Joe and GiGi Miller, is planning to attend Hamline University and plans to major in Law-Criminal Justice. Daniels-Miller received awards and scholarships that include the Presidential Scholarship, the General Community Scholarship, the ERA Muske Scholarship and the Hamline Trustee Scholarship.

Amber Diemert, daughter of Sandie and Everett Diemert, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota Duluth and plans to focus on Education of Medicine. Diemert received awards and scholarships including High Honors from FLHS, an Academic Scholarship, the Hallberg Family Foundation Scholarship, the Lowell D. Lynch Teamsters Scholarship and the United States Army Distinguished Athlete Award.

Katelyn Dobihal, daughter of Mike and Lori Dobihal, is planning to attend St. Mary’s University and has plans to major in Elementary Education. Dobihal received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the Presidential Scholarship, the Christian Brothers leadership Scholarship, and a St. Mary’s University Grant.

Loren Endorf, son of Mark and Julie Endorf, is planning to attend the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and plans to major in Trumpet Performance. Endorf received awards and scholarships that include High Honors from FLHS, the Viennese Ball Endowed Scholarship, the Ham Lakes Lanes and Lounge Scholarship.

Lindsay Engstrom, daughter of Kevin and Lisa Engstrom, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota State Mankato and has yet to decide on a focus to pursue. Engstrom received awards and scholarships including the Plastech Scholarship.

Daniel Erdle, son of Mary and Tim Erdle, is planning to attend Hamline University and has plans to major in Political Science. Erdle received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, and the Presidential Scholarship.

Bethany Erickson, daughter of Steve and Carol Erickson, is planning to attend Augsburg College and has plans to major in Human Services. Erickson received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the Regent’s Scholarship, the Regents Honor’s Scholarship, the Augsburg Corporation Scholarship, the Forest Lake Lions Scholarship and the General Community Scholarship.

Joshua Erickson, son of Steve Erickson and Cindy Laskow Erickson, is planning to attend North Central University and plans to major in Education of Pastoral Studies. Erickson received awards and scholarships including the Christian Leadership Scholarship and the General Community Scholarship.

Sammy Evgen, daughter of Mary and Greg Evgen, is planning to attend Winona State University and plans to major in Elementary Education-Specialized in Math/English. Evgen received awards and scholarships including High Honors from FLHS, an Academic Scholarship, and the Columbus Principal’s Scholarship.

Brittany Falkers, daughter of Joann and Steve Falkers, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota Duluth and has plans to major in Theater. Falkers received awards and scholarships including the New Student Marshall Center Scholarship, the Tony Potami Memorial Scholarship and the Lino Lakes Principal’s Scholarship.

Jennifer Faust, daughter of Patrick and Donna Faust, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota Duluth and plans to major
in Communications. Faust received awards and scholarships that include High Honors from FLHS, an Academic Scholarship and the General Community Scholarship.

Cory Faymoville, son of Dean and Dawn Faymoville, is planning to attend Alexandria Technical College and plans to major in Diesel Mechanics. Faymoville received awards and scholarships including the Jeff Hendrickson Scholarship and the Leo Sina/Trade School Scholarship.

Andrew Fritzinger, son of Lori and Bernie Fritzinger, is planning to attend St. Cloud State University and has plans to major in Business. Fritzinger received awards and scholarships including the General Community Scholarship.

Carrie Geving, daughter of Margo and Garry Geving, is planning to attend Oak Hills Christian College and has plans to major in Pastoral Studies. Geving received awards and scholarships including the Rotary Strive Scholarship.

Benjamin Gort, son of Jeff and Lynn Gort, is planning to attend Bemidji State University but has yet to decide on a focus to pursue. Gort received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, Honors Scholarship, an Academic Achievement Scholarship and the Forest Lake Elementary Principal’s Scholarship.

Kate Haglund, daughter of Kerri Haglund and Tom Haglund, is planning to attend Gustavus Adolphus College and has plans to major in Criminal Justice or Business. Haglund received awards and scholarships including the Gustavus Academic Scholarship and the Hobey Baker Award.

Matt Hansmann, son of Donna and Wayne Hansmann, is planning to attend St. Cloud State University and has plans to major in Engineering. Hansmann received awards and scholarships including High Honors from FLHS, an Athletic Scholarship and an Academic Scholarship.

Erin Harrington, daughter of Lynne Bly and John Harrington, is planning to attend Hamline University and has plans to major in Bio-Chemistry. Harrington received awards including an Honors Scholarship.

Kate Harrison, daughter of Candance and Russ Harrison, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota Duluth and has plans to major in Science for Chiropractic. Harrison received awards and scholarships including the Lowell D. Lynch Scholarship.

Hillary Hazzard, daughter of Mark Hazzard and Sharon Simonson Hazzard, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota and has plans to major in Graphic Design. Hazzard received awards and scholarships including High Honors from FLHS and the General Community Scholarship.

Matt Hentges, son of John and Judy Hentges, is planning to attend the University of St. Thomas and has plans to major in Psychology. Hentges received awards and scholarships including a St. Thomas Scholarship.

Bridget Holmes, daughter of Maureen and Robert Holmes, is planning to attend the University of Wisconsin River Falls and has plans to major in Chemistry. Holmes received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, and the General Community Scholarship.

Patrick Homyak, son of Patricia and David Homyak, is planning to attend Winona State University but has yet to decide a focus to pursue. Homyak received awards and scholarships including High Honors from FLHS, the Presidential Scholarship and the Rasmussen Scholarship.

Mark Hudon, son of Don Elodee Hudon, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota Crookston and has plans to major in Natural Resources-Law Enforcement. Hudon received awards and scholarships including an Achievement Scholarship, the Stanley D. Sahlstrom Scholarship and the Christian Puppet Revival Scholarship.

Ann Husfeldt, daughter of Brian and Linda Husfeldt, is planning to attend Winona State University and has plans to major in Elementary Education. Husfeldt received awards and scholarships including the General Community Scholarship.

Scott Isaacson, son of Jan and Greg Isaacson, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota and has plans to major in Material Science and Engineering. Isaacson received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the Minnesota Gold Scholarship, an Undergraduate Research Scholarship, the Frederick A. and Ruth M. Wuori Scholarship, a President’s Distinguished Students Scholarship, the National Merit University of Minnesota Scholarship, the Pat-Cheyne Education Mathematics Scholarship and the “Triple A Award.”

Aaron Jacobs, son of Dan and Jackie Jacobs, is planning to attend St. Cloud State University and has plans to major in Biology and Computer Science. Jacobs received awards and scholarships including the General Community Scholarship.

Amy Johnson, daughter of Theresa and Terry Johnson, is planning to attend the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and has plans to major in pre-medicine. Johnson received awards and scholarships including High Honors from FLHS, a Chancellor’s Scholarship, Lino Lakes Lioness Scholarship, Stephen Taylor Memorial Scholarship, Forest Lake Association of Educational Professionals Scholarship, and the Forest Lake Area Athletic Scholarship.

Jessalyn Johnson, daughter of Lyle and Julie Johnson, is planning to attend Bethel University and has plans to major in Elementary Education. Johnson received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the President’s Scholarship, the Edgren Scholarship, the Tozer Scholarship and a General Community Scholarship.

Stacey Johnson, daughter of Cindy and Mike Johnson, is planning to attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln and has plans to major in Biostem Engineering. Johnson received awards and scholarships including Honors from FLHS and the Aaron Douglas Scholarship.

Shannon Joyce, daughter of Mary Conroy and Mike Joyce, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota and has plans to major in Political Science and Theology. Joyce received awards and scholarships including the Forest View Principal’s Scholarship.

David Kasl, son of Craig and Mary Beth Kasl, is planning to attend Michigan Technological University and has plans to major in Engineering. Kasl received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, a National Academic Scholarship and the Pat Cheyne-Education Mathematics Scholarship.

William Kichler, son of Darrel Kichler and Bonnie Kichler, is planning to attend Hennepin Technical College and has plans to major in Automotive Mechanics. Kichler received awards and scholarships including the Tozer Scholarship.

Tyler Kleinhuizen, son of Dave and Anita Kleinhuizen, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota and has plans to major in Sports Medicine. Kleinhuizen received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the Iron Range Scholarship, an Athletic Scholarship, the United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award and the Tozer Scholarship.

Zach Knight, son of Sandy and Don Knight, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota Duluth but has yet to decide a focus to pursue. Knight received awards and scholarships including the Professional Office Personnel Scholarship, Wyoming Lions Club Scholarship, the Educational Paraprofessionals Scholarship, the Forest Lake Area Athletic Association Scholarship, Forest Lake Lions Scholarship, Rotary Strive Scholarship and the Lowell D. Lynch Scholarship.

Justine Koch, daughter of Jean and Ron Koch, is planning to attend Gustavus Adolphus College and has plans to major in Bio-Chemistry/Criminal Justice with a minor in Spanish. Koch received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the Presidents Scholarship, the Fritz Nelson Scholarship and the Hugo Lions Club Scholarship.

Adriane Kraus, daughter of Jennifer and Bill Kraus, is planning to attend the College of St. Scholastica and has plans to major in Mechanical Engineering. Kraus received awards and scholarships including the Benedictine Scholarship, the Alumni Referral Scholarship, the General Community Scholarship and the United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award.

Megan Kroll, daughter of Ken Kroll and Laurie and Mike Hegge, is planning to attend Winona State University and has plans to major in Nursing. Kroll received awards and scholarships including the John Allquist Memorial Scholarship, and the Forest Lake Legion Auxiliary Scholarship.

Brittany Kruger, daughter and Ken and Deb Kruger, is planning to attend the Augsburg College but has yet to decide a focus to pursue. Kruger received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, a Regents Scholarship and a Regents Honors Scholarship.

Amy Lalla, daughter of Mike and Mary Lalla, is planning to attend the College of St. Scholastica and has plans to major in Biology. Lalla received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the Benedictine Scholarship, the Alumni Referral Scholarship and the Forest Lake Athletic Association Scholarship.

Samantha Langenbach, daughter of John and Nancy Langenbach, is planning to attend San Diego State University and has plans to major in Political Science. Langenbach received awards and scholarships including Honors from FLHS and the Robert J. Kluk Memorial Scholarship.

Kelsey Lefto, daughter of Joe and Jolene Lefto, is planning to attend Bemidji State University and has plans to major in Elementary Education. Lefto received awards and scholarships including High Honors from FLHS, the Campus Scholarship, an Academic Achievement Scholarship, the ERA Muske Scholarship and the General Community Scholarship.

Kyle Lewis, son of Dave and Julie Lewis, is planning to attend Concordia University and has plans to major in Biology. Lewis received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, a President’s Scholarship, an Athletic Scholarship and a General Community Scholarship.

Alex Lindeberg, son of Greg and Jodi Lindeberg, is planning to attend St. John’s University and has plans to major in Veterinarian. Lindeberg received awards and scholarships including Honors from FLHS, a Merrill Lynch Scholarship and a President’s Scholarship.

Kyla Lindstrom, daughter of Aileen and Teri Lindstrom, is planning to attend Century College and has plans to major in Science. Lindstrom received awards and scholarships including Honors from FLHS and a Forest Lake Hockey Scholarship.

Brian Loch, son of Robert and Patty Loch, is planning to attend Northwestern College and has plans to major in Business. Loch received awards and scholarships including the General Community Scholarship.

Shayna Matheson, daughter of Wayne and Sherri Matheson, is planning to attend the Gulf Coast Community College and has plans to major in Accounting. Matheson received the General Community Scholarship.

Jennifer McAllister, daughter of Duane and Julie McAllister, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota and has plans to major in Forest Resources. McAllister received awards and scholarships including Honors from FLHS, College Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Scholarship and the Positive Choices Scholarship.

Michelle Medina, daughter of Tim and Shelly Medina, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota and has plans to major in Agriculture Education. Medina received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the President’s Distinguished Student Scholarship, Study Abroad Scholarship, the McGuire Scholarship, the Tozer Scholarship, the Minnesota Agriculture Ed. Leadership Council Scholarship and the College of Education and Human Development Scholarship.

Rebecca Miller, daughter of Sue and Doug Miller, is planning to attend the College of St. Scholastica and has plans to major in Psychology. Miller received awards and scholarships including Honors from FLHS, Benedictine Scholarship, Alumni Referral Scholarship and the General Community Scholarship.

Alissa Moberg, daughter of Ron and Carrie Moberg, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota, but has yet to decide on a focus to pursue. Moberg received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the Tozer Scholarship, the Boettcher Scholarship and the “Triple A” Award.

Katherine Monberg, daughter of Bill and Pat Monberg, is planning to attend Hamline University and has plans to major in English Education and Theatre. Monberg received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the Tozer Scholarship and the Linwood Principals Scholarship.

Will Montes, son of David and Renee Montes, is planning to attend the University of St. Thomas and has plans to major in Pre-Medicine. Montes received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the St. Thomas Academic Scholarship and the Tozer Scholarship.

Lucas Munkelwitz, son of Julie and Mark Munkelwitz, is planning to attend St. Cloud State University and has plans to major in Criminal Justice. Munkelwitz received awards and scholarships including an Athletic Scholarship, the General Community Scholarship, the Forest Lake Amateur Wrestling, Forest Lake Ford Scholarship, and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum Award.

Alexa Nelson, daughter of Brett and Debbie Nelson, is planning to attend the University of North Dakota and has plans to major in Art/International Studies. Nelson received the Forest Lake Hockey Scholarship.

Nelson received awards and scholarships including High Honors from FLHS, the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Foundation’s Undergraduate Scholarship, Swimming Scholarship, College of Letters and Science New Directions Scholarship and the St. Peter’s School Scholarship.

Ellen Nelson, daughter of Pete and Melinda Nelson, is planning to attend North Dakota State University and has plans to major in Nursing. Nelson received awards and scholarships including the General Community Scholarship and the John Schumacher Memorial Scholarship.

Kierstin Nygaard, daughter of Carol and Greg Nygaard, is planning to attend Concordia College of Moorehead and has plans to major in Physical Education/Pre-Chiropractic. Nygaard received awards and scholarships including a Concordia College Grant.

Jonathan Ohman, son of Ross and Julie Ohman, is planning to attend Hamline University and has plans to major in Biology. Ohman received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the Presidential Scholarship, a Music Scholarship, the Tozer Scholarship, the Forest Lake Area Athletic Association and the Hallberg Family Foundation.

Rylie Olson, daughter of Bonnie Johnson and Jeff Olson, is planning to attend Iowa State University and has plans to major in Environmental Studies. Olson received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, and the Idea Scholarship.

Thomas Olson, son of Donn and Renee Olson, is planning to attend Winona State University and has plans to major in Composite Engineering. Olson received awards and scholarships including Honors from FLHS and an Honors Academic Award.

Luke Opsahl, son of Tom and Sharon Opsahl, is planning to attend St. Johns University and plans to major in Economics. Opsahl received awards and scholarships including the Dean’s Scholarship and the Tammi Lestrud/Business Scholarship.

Zach Ostenso, son of Sheila Saelens and Steve Ostenso, is planning to attend Embry Ridell Aeronautical University and has plans to major in Aeronautics. Ostenso received awards and scholarships including the Linwood Helping Hand Scholarship.

Paige Patchin, daughter of Greg and Andrea Patchin, is planning to attend Middlebury College but has yet to decide on a focus to pursue. Patchin received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, a Middlebury College grant, the Tozer Scholarship, the Jack Conley-Athletics Scholarship and the National Merit Commended Scholar.

Aaron Peterson, son of Jayne and Todd Peterson, is planning to attend the University of Wisconsin River Falls and has plans to major in Business. Peterson received awards and scholarships including High Honors from FLHS, the Leanard Wojtowicz Memorial Scholarship, the Scandia Lions Scholarship and the General Community Scholarship.

Carrie Peterson, daughter of Steve and Lynn Peterson, is planning to attend Youth Mission for one year then Bethel University of Northwestern University and has plans to major in Education. Peterson received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the Columbus Lions Scholarship, and the Honorary Virgil Grove: Education Scholarship.

Kathleen Peterson, daughter of Chris Peterson and Kristy Delfun-Peterson, is planning to attend the University of St. Thomas but has yet to decide on a focus to pursue. Peterson received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, the St. Thomas Scholarship and the St. Thomas Award.

Katie Phelps, daughter of Cathy and Dan Phelps, is planning to attend Northland Baptist College and has plans to major in Elementary Education. Phelps received awards and scholarships including the General Community Scholarship.

Lindsey Quale, daughter of Jon and Rosie Quale, is planning to attend the College of St. Catherine and has plans to major in Physical Therapy. Quale received awards and scholarships including High Honors from FLHS, a Presidential Scholarship, the Christian Puppet Revival Scholarship and the Hazelden Health Care/Social Services Scholarship.

Sarah Reely, daughter of Bill and Jan Reely, is planning to attend Jamestown College and has plans to major in Secondary Education. Reely received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, an Academic Scholarship, a Forest Lake Masonic Lodge Scholarship, the Erin J. Kluk Memorial Scholarship and a General Community Scholarship.

Paula Regnier, daughter of Chris and Mary Lynn Regnier, is planning to attend the University of Wisconsin Superior and has plans to major in Broadcast Journalism/Theater. Regnier received awards and scholarships including Honor from FLHS and the Boettcher Scholarship.

Daniel Sager, son of Gary and Sandy Sager, is planning to attend Anoka Ramsey and is planning to major in Law Enforcement. Sager received awards and scholarships including the General Community Scholarship.

Mark Sandager, son of Rick and Lynn Sandager, is planning to attend South Dakota State University and has plans to major in Agricultural Education. Sandager received awards and scholarships including Honors from FLHS and the FFA Sandager Honorarium Agricultural Scholarship.

Caitlin Sapa, daughter of Mike and Heidi Sapa, is planning to attend Augsburg College and has plans to major in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Music. Victoria Yeager, daughter of Linda and Chip Yeager, is planning to attend Mount Holyake and has plans to major in International Relations and French. Brandon Yetter, son of Chuck and Donna Yetter, is planning to attend Bemidji State University and has plans to major in Criminal Justice. Yetter received awards and scholarships including Honors from FLHS, a Forest Lake Safety Camp Scholarship and a General Community Scholarship.

Stephanie Zastrow, daughter of Mary and Tim Zastrow, is planning to attend the University of Minnesota Honors Program Institute of Technology and has plans to major in Mechanical Engineering. Zastrow received awards and scholarships including Highest Honors from FLHS, a Presidential Scholarship, the State Farm US Figure Skating Scholastic Honors Team, a National Merit Commended Scholar, a Lino Lakes Lions Club Scholarship and the Columbus Lions Scholarship.

Jennifer Zieman, daughter of Lana and Craig Albrecht, is planning to attend Ottawa University and has plans to major in Business Administration. Zieman received awards and scholarships including a Dean’s Scholarship.

• Air Force ROTC Scholarship: An ROTC scholarship will pay for up to 100% of a student’s college tuition. After college graduation the recipient is commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force.

• Allina Medical Clinic, Forest Lake Scholarship: The Allina Medical Clinic will award $1,000 in scholarship money to a graduating senior residing in the Forest Lake Area School District. This scholarship is for students planning a career in the health care field. The award is based on need and scholastic record.

• John E. Allquist Memorial Scholarship: The John E. Allquist Memorial Scholarship Fund in the amount of $500.00 is awarded to a graduating senior of Forest Lake High School and is based on academics, school activities, community involvement, as well as work experience demonstrating good citizenship.

American Legion Auxiliary-Forest Lake Post #225 Past President’s Parley Scholarship: The local Legion Auxiliary offers two $250 scholarships to graduating seniors who are planning to attend college or a vocational-technical institution.

• Birchwood Health Care Scholarship: Birchwood Senior Living, providing over 39 years of skilled nursing service through Birchwood Health Care Center, awards $1,000 or more in scholarship money to Forest Lake High School seniors who are planning careers in nursing.

• Captain Dan Scholarship: Dan Rieck believed in community service and participated in many public service projects in the City of Wyoming and Chisago County. He volunteered many years in service to his country, his community, and his family. Upon Dan’s death, his family and friends created the Captain Dan Scholarship at the Wyoming Fire Department. This scholarship is to be given each year to Wyoming Fire Fighters and their family members.

• Columbus Lioness Club Scholarship: Two, $250 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who are residents of Columbus Township. Eligibility is based on academic achievement and involvement in school and community activities. The award is to be used to further education at a college or vocational-technical institution.

• Columbus Lions Club Scholarship: Two, $250 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who are residents of Columbus Township. Eligibility is based on academic achievement and involvement in school and community activities.

• CPR Scholarship (Christian Puppet Revival): The Christian Puppet Revival, a performing outreach ministry of St Paul Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Minnesota, presents to its active graduating seniors from area high schools scholarships for use in continuing education in recognition and appreciation of the time and talents that these young adults have contributed to the leadership and productions of CPR Puppets.

• Equitable Reserve Association Scholarship: Equitable Reserve Association is a fraternal benefit society that has been headquartered in Neenah, WI for 110 years. As part of their benefit program they award money each year to select graduating seniors to help ease the cost of attending college or tech school.

• ERA Muske Company Community Scholarship: Two $500 scholarships will be available to Forest Lake graduating seniors who have displayed the highest involvement in volunteerism and personal contribution to their community, school, church, club or organization.

• Fairview Lakes Regional Auxiliary Scholarship-Leah Hilsheim Award: Fairview Lakes Regional Health Care Auxiliary offers a minimum of six scholarships to students in pursuit of a career in any area of the health care field who live in the Fairview service area. Scholarship amounts range up to $1,000.

• FFA Sandager Honorarium Agricultural Scholarship: This is a scholarship given to a student who is interested in an agricultural education or plans on pursuing a career in the field of agriculture.

• Forest Lake Area Athletic Association Scholarship: The Forest Lake Area Athletic Association offers scholarships to both male and female athletes who have participated in at least one high school sport during grades 10 - 12. The athlete must have a GPA of 2.8 or higher and plan to participate in post high school education. Criteria for the scholarship are based on athletic, academic and community involvement.

• Forest Lake Association of Educational Office Personnel Scholarship: A $500 scholarship is available to a graduating senior who wishes to continue their education at any institute of higher learning and pursue a degree in a business related field. The award is based on academic achievement, financial need, participation in extra curricular activities and community service.

• Forest Lake Association of Educational Paraprofessionals: This scholarship program is open to graduating seniors of Forest Lake Senior High School who wish to continue their education and pursue work in the field of education or healthcare. This scholarship award is based on academic scholarship, financial need, and initiative.

• Forest Lake Ford Scholarship: $500 scholarships will be awarded from the following three categories. The best six applicants will receive the six scholarships regardless of the category selected by the candidate. 1) a student who has participated on the Forest Lake Wrestling Team; 2) a student who is pursuing a technical career in auto mechanics; 3) a student who has made some significant positive change during their high school career and is on the upward bound

• Forest Lake Hockey Association Scholarship: The Forest Lake Hockey Association is offering two $500 scholarships to either male or female students who have been members of the Forest Lake Hockey Association for at least four years from Squirt level and up. Criteria for the scholarship are based on academics, good citizenship, community involvement, and residency of the ISD #831 school district.

• Forest Lake Lions Community Service Scholarship: The Forest Lake Lions’ motto is “We Serve.” To encourage all members of the community to be involved in service (especially our youth), the Lions offer $500 scholarships to deserving students. You do not have to be an “A” student to apply for this scholarship....the emphasis will be on community service. It will be awarded to students who exemplify the “spirit of Lionism” through their actions. This service can be through an organization or by individual efforts to help our community and/or its individual members.

• Forest Lake Masonic Lodge Scholarship: The Forest Lake Masonic Lodge #344 is offering two scholarships to two Forest Lake Senior High graduates based on academic achievement, involvement in the community, school activities, as well as Masonic affiliation.

• Forest Lake Rotary Senior Strive Scholarship: The Forest Lake Rotary Club Senior Strive Scholarships are offered to seniors who are on track to graduate on time with their class in June. These scholarships range from $500 - $1,000. The scholarship winners will be the applicants who improve their GPA the most in the period between the second term of their junior year and the third term of their senior year. The student, in their personal essay, will show the desire to continue self improvement as demonstrated through community service.

• Forest Lake Safety Camp Scholarship: The Forest Lake Safety Camp Scholarship fund was formed in 1995 through the generous support of the Forest Lake area business community. These $500 scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated extraordinary service above self, their community, state, and families, and who wish to pursue careers in areas of safety or ongoing service occupations.

• Jeff Hendrickson Memorial Scholarship: The Jeff Hendrickson Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a senior student who is planning to attend a technical or vocational school.

• Hugo Lions Club Scholarship: $1,000 scholarships are offered to qualified applicants based on the decision of the selection committee. Awards will be made to students planning to attend college or vocational school. Applicants must be current graduating seniors of any high school, public or private, and a resident of the City of Hugo.

• Kluk Family Memorial Scholarships: One $500 scholarship will be given out in each of the three student’s name: Erin Jean Kluk, Andrea Jolene Kluk, and Robert John Kluk. Each scholarship will be given to a student who has specific interests in the areas described and has the best qualifications as determined by the scholarship review committee.

• Andrea J. Kluk Memorial Scholarship: This renewable $500 scholarship will be given to a student from FLHS who has a career interest in science, medicine, or law enforcement. The student must have a minimum of a B average (3.0 GPA) when applying. The interest in science, medicine or law enforcement must have been demonstrated by taking these types of classes in high school or participating in other outside of school activities that show interest in these areas.

• Erin J. Kluk Memorial Scholarship: This renewable $500 scholarship will be given to a student from FLHS who has a career interest in art, writing, or language. An interest in developing their own business using the above talents will also be helpful. The student must have a minimum of a B average (3.0 GPA) when applying. The interest in art, writing, or language must have been demonstrated by taking these types of classes in high school. A demonstrated use of talent in the above areas being utilized to earn a living or make money will be a plus in obtaining this scholarship.

• Robert J. Kluk Memorial Scholarship: This is a renewable $500 scholarship and will be given to a student from FLHS who has a career interest in political science, history or a military career. The student must have a minimum of a B average (3.0 GPA) when applying. The interest in political science, history or a military career must have been demonstrated by taking these types of classes in high school or participating in other outside of school activities that show interest in these areas.

• Robert M. Land Memorial Scholarship: Bob Land attended Lino Lakes Elementary from Kindergarten through 6th grade, Southwest Junior High School from 7th through 9th grade and died in his junior year at Forest Lake High School. He was a caring and generous person who would be happy to see a Forest Lake High School graduate receive this scholarship to help him/her meet career goals. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student with a GPA of 2.0 or higher, is employed part-time during high school, and is planning to attend a four year college or vocational/technical school after graduation.

• Lino Lakes Lioness Club Scholarship: The Lino Lakes Lioness Club will offer one $250 scholarship to a graduating senior. Eligibility is based on academic achievement and involvement in school and community activities.

• Lino Lakes Lions Club Scholarship: Lion Lakes Lion Scholarship in the name of Raymond Johnson: One $1,000 scholarship in the name of Raymond Johnson, as well as one $1,000 scholarship in the name of the Lino Lakes Lions Club, will be awarded to a graduating senior who is a resident of Lino Lakes. Eligibility is based on academic achievement and involvement in school and community activities.

• Linwood Helping Hand Club Scholarship: The Helping Hand Club of Linwood sponsors a scholarship available to a Linwood Township resident and a former Linwood Elementary student. This scholarship is awarded to a student who has demonstrated academic progress and who plans to continue their education at a college or vocational school. One of the requirements for this scholarship is participation in community service in Linwood.

• Sean Parenteau Scholarship: The Sean Parenteau Memorial Fund is a non-profit fund for teen suicide prevention and awareness programs. This scholarship is centered around the passion that Sean had for music. These $1,000 scholarships are given to a young man and a young lady who have demonstrated a similar passion and are signed up to continue their education, regardless of the field of study.

Positive Choices/Students Against Destructive Decisions: This is a partnership scholarship sponsored by the Roberts Family Funeral Home and Forest Lake High School S.A.D.D.

• Plastech Scholarship: Plastech is pleased to support the continuing education of the children of its employees. Plastech will award $1000 to any high school senior, after that person has successfully completed their first year at any accredited post-high school institution and has intentions of returning the following fall. For the student to be eligible, one of his/her parents must have completed five years of full-time service or eight years of part-time service with Plastech.

• Quad Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship: The Quad Area Chamber of Commerce is offering a $250 scholarship to a Forest Lake Senior High School graduate to be used to further their education at a college or vocational-technical school.

• St. Peter’s Alumni Scholarship: St. Peter’s Home and School Association is offering two, $500 scholarships to former students of St. Peter’s Catholic Grade School. The winners will be selected based on their achievements and growth reflecting the values instilled while attending their grade school.

• Scandia-Marine Lions Scholarship: The Scandia-Marine Lions Club is offering a $1,000 and a $500 scholarship to deserving seniors who attended Scandia Elementary School, and who live in the Scandia-Marine community. This scholarship is awarded to seniors who have excelled in academic studies, and have provided leadership and involvement in school and community activities.

• John Schumacher Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded in the memory of John Schumacher who was a teacher for 26 years. He coached baseball, basketball, football, and track in the Forest Lake School District. The winner will be chosen by coaches’ recommendations based on demonstrated excellence as a citizen athlete and will be furthering his/her education.

• Support Our Fine Arts Scholarship (SOFA): This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has shown superior involvement and dedication to the fine arts, demonstrated a good work ethic, respect for other students involved in the fine arts, and the desire to learn more and improve his/her talent while in high school. The money is to be used for the continuation of education in the fine arts at a post secondary educational institute.

• Stephen Taylor Memorial/Lino Lakes Elementary School Scholarship: The Lino Lakes Parent Teacher Organization, in memory of Stephen Taylor, a former Lino Lakes Elementary School student, will award a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior of Forest Lake High School who previously attended Lino Lakes Elementary School. The student must plan to attend an accredited institution to further his/her education.

• Tozer Foundation Scholarship: Tozer scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement, ability, character, leadership, industry, and personality. The Tozer foundation scholarship provides assistance to graduating seniors and students already attending colleges and universities throughout the United States.

• Wyoming Lions Club Scholarship: The Wyoming Lions Club will award scholarships to residents of the City of Wyoming or Wyoming Township. Selection will be based on academic achievement, community involvement, and school activities. The scholarship is to be used for further education at a post secondary accredited educational institution.

• Wyoming Parent Teacher Association Scholarship: A $500 scholarship will be awarded annually to a graduating senior who attended Wyoming Elementary School. This scholarship is based heavily on community involvement as well as academic progress.

• National Merit Scholarship Commendation: The National Merit Scholarship Program honors students for their performance on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test. More than one million students nationwide entered the National Merit Scholarship Program. Of those, 34,000 are being honored for their outstanding performance and academic promise which represents the top 5% of those students taking the PSAT exam. This year Forest Lake has three students who are National Merit Commended Scholars. These students are Scott Isaacson, Paige Patchin and Stephanie Zastrow.

• National Merit Scholarship Finalist And Scholar: From the 34,000 Commended students, the National Merit Scholarship Program determined 15,000 Finalists from the entire United States. Forest Lake Senior High is proud to recognize Scott Isaacson as a National Merit Finalist. His scores on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test place him in the top percentile of all students who took the PSAT nationally and this honor has made him eligible for further scholarship consideration.

• Academics, Arts and Athletic’s Award (Triple A Award): The Academics, Arts, and Athletics award also known as the “Triple A Award” is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League and is given to students who achieve a grade point average of 3.0 or higher while participating in a league sponsored athletic program and a fine arts activity.

• The Athena Award: The Athena Award is given each spring at a banquet in Minneapolis to the outstanding female athlete and scholar in the participating metro area high schools.

• United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Awards: The United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award is presented to a student athlete for displaying courage, poise, self-confidence, and leadership as a high school athlete.

• United States Army Distinguished Athlete Award: The United States Army Distinguished Athlete Award is presented to a student athlete for displaying courage, poise, self-confidence, and leadership as a high school athlete.

• Community Scholarship Foundation Scholarship: Specific Scholarships Awarded Through the Community Scholarship Foundation

• The Gertrude L. Peterson Scholarship (Food or Nutrition Field): Randy Peterson has been honoring his parents more than a decade by providing funds for two scholarships. The student receiving the scholarship to honor his mother will be studying in the area of foods and nutrition.

• The Hazelden Scholarship (Medical/health care or human/social service field): Hazelden is committed to helping those with addiction, by providing dollars for those who will be entering the profession of Health Care/Social Services

• The Virgil Grove Scholarship (Education field): Virgil served on the CSF Board from its beginning until his retirement. Virgil was a counselor. The scholarship is given to honor this dedicated educator and excellent record keeper of the first quarter century of CSF.

• The Connexus Scholarship (Open to members of Connexus): Connexus provides scholarships to deserving students who live in their area of service.

• The Forest Lake Times Scholarship (Given in memory of Tammi Lestrud for those students interested in a business field): Howard has served on the CSF Board for many years. Tammi, the daughter of Howard and Judy is remembered with this scholarship.

• The Elsie Vogel Scholarship (Journalism Field): A local writer and resident of Forest Lake has a named scholarship provided by CSF to honor and support a student choosing to study journalism. Elsie Vogel’s book provides a history of the Forest Lake community.

• The Al Franzen Scholarship (World Languages field): Al taught Spanish and served as Student Council advisor. He was passionate about teaching. Al passed away in the early years of his retirement. His family and friends continue to honor him with this scholarship.

• The Jack Conley Scholarship (Athletic recognition in memory of Jack Conley): Jack taught, coached and served as Athletic Director in District 831 for many years. He has been honored in many ways, this year in the St. Cloud Hall of Fame.

• The Forest Lake Lions Scholarship in Memory of L.T. Lechner, Lloyd Cohoes and George Sedlacek (Education field): Three, now deceased educational leaders, are honored by the Lions.

• The Forest Lake District Administrator’s Scholarship (For exemplary achievement at Forest Lake High School): The individuals in the District Office have contributed for several years to provide scholarship dollars for a student of excellence

• The Leo Sinna Memorial Scholarship (Trade Schools): Dr. Lee Sinna is honoring his father by providing money for an individual who will be attending a Trade School. Dr. Sinna serves as chairperson of the CSF Board.

• Rasmussen Scholarship: The Community Scholarship Foundation was established in 1972 by Duane Rasmussen. The first year a total of $1200 was given to four students. The Forest Lake community has supported the idea of providing scholarships through the vision and educational concern and leadership demonstrated by Duane.

• Boettcher Scholarship: Vern served on the District 831 School Board for more than twenty-five years. He and wife, Fern, continue to provide for students in District 831. An endowment has been established to provide for students in District 831.

• Hallberg Family Foundation Scholarship: The Hallberg Family Foundation provides generously for the educational needs of students in District 831. CSF is grateful for the commitment to the citizens of District 831.

• Fritz Nelson Scholarship: The family of Fritz Nelson has provided dollars for many years to help students. The dollars are from an endowment established early in the thirty-three year history of CSF.

• Patriot Bank Scholarship (Business Field): This is the first year that the Patriot Band has provided scholarship monies for a student. CSF is appreciative of their support.

• Idea Scholarship: Judge Peterson is honoring his father by providing scholarship monies for an individual who has demonstrated their work in defending and promoting an idea.

• Pat Cheyne Scholarship (Education/Mathematics Field): Pat taught mathematics and served students in numerous ways; .as a coach, both athletic and various creative endeavors and as a co-coordinator for the Gifted and Talented program. She passed away in December, 2006.

• The Forest Lake Principal’s Scholarship (for excellent achievement in high school and attendance at that specific elementary school): Each of the Principal’s scholarships are given to an high school senior who has attended one of the seven elementary schools.

• Community Scholarship Foundation: This is the 33rd year that the Community Scholarship Foundation has been in existence. The sole purpose of the foundation is to assist our community residents financially in furthering their educational goals. This scholarship program is a reality because of the generous donations by businesses, individuals and organizations residing in District 831.
