Continuing a winning streak spanning two decades, Washington County was recently honored with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. The award honors the county for its work in producing the 2005 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. The certificate is awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association to agencies across the nation in order to recognize and encourage excellence in financial reporting by state and local governments. Only 12 counties in Minnesota received the award and only 17 percent of counties nationally receive the award. This marks the 21st consecutive year the county has won this certificate.
