El “Big Al” Ewert, Forest Lake, will lead the Forest Lake American Legion Post 225 Independence Parade this year parade chair Barb Olson said this week. Ewert, a decorated Army veteran from World War II, is an active member of Post 225 and VFW Post 4210. He is also an active member of the Forest Lake Lions Club. In addition to Ewert as grand marshal, Post 225 will also recognize Lorry Houle as honorary grand marshal. A parade of some 175 units is expected. “Bridging he Gap to Freedom” is the theme for the 2007 Post 225 celebration that starts on Friday, June 29 and continues through Wednesday, July 4th.
