Traveling history exhibit of Anoka County visits Linwood
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Anoka County, the Anoka County Historical Society has produced a traveling exhibition that will visit each of the 21 cities and townships in Anoka County throughout 2007.
The exhibit will be at the Linwood Senior Center from Tuesday, March 13 to Thursday, April 5.
Serving as a companion to a larger exhibition of 150 photographs at the Anoka County History Center and Library, Picturing Anoka County, a smaller “snapshot” exhibit will visit the Linwood Senior Center.
The small exhibit features one historical photograph from each city and township as well as a handful of additional images of the community that is hosting the exhibition.
The Linwood exhibit shows a variety of pictures like a group of people from the American Twine Company in Columbus, the Jewett’s sailing on their boat in Martin Lake and pictures from a local wedding.
The local pictures, along with several others from around Anoka County, are collected in the hard cover book Picturing Anoka County: 150 Years of Anoka County History.
The book has over 200 photographs and 144 pages of text telling the unique story of Anoka County.
The Anoka County Historical Society, organized in 1934, is headquartered in the Anoka County History Center and Library at 2135 Third Avenue North in Anoka.
