The town board election that many in Wyoming Township thought wouldn’t be needed takes place next Tuesday.
Voters in the township will be asked to go to the polls to elect two town board supervisors. Seats C and D are both on the ballot March 13.
Only one of the current supervisors is seeking reelection.
Ron Swenson, who holds Seat C, is in the race. He is being challenged by Roger Gierke.
In the race for Seat D, Supervisor Jeff Eiffler has decided not to run again.
Two members of the Wyoming Township Planning Commission are bidding to replace Eiffler on the town board.
Seeking the seat are Jerry Owens and Buck Schott.
When the city of Wyoming and Wyoming Township agreed in late 2005 to a process of orderly annexation and a merger of the city and township, it was thought the town spring election of 2007 would never be needed.
But hostile annexation bids from Chisago City and Stacy have led to a legal challenge that is still in the courts and not likely to be resolved soon.
Attempts to reach a settlement with Chisago City over the dispute have been rejected by Chisago City.
Voting will take place at the Wyoming Town Hall from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. next Tuesday.
