The Washington County Parks Division will soon begin development of Big Marine Park Reserve in May Township. On May 8, the Washington County Board awarded the $2.7 million contract to Pember Companies Inc. The first phase of development will include a beach, boat launch, picnic area, play area, trails, and associated roads and parking areas. Construction is expected to begin within the next few weeks. Planners expect to have this part of the park open by the summer of 2008. Because of the natural resource focus of the park, the design will provide a balance of outdoor recreation and natural resource restoration and management.
