Synchronized swim team wins again

With another challenging meet against Stillwater looming on Tuesday, May 1, the Rangers synchronized swimming team prepared with two relatively easy victories. The first came on the road against Greenway/Grand Rapids, and the most recent was on April 24 at Forest Lake’s Southwest Junior High School.

When Osseo was in town, the Rangers displayed their dominance by taking first in every event, and ended the night with a 36-9 win.

“The judges were very impressed with our routines,” head coach Laura Davison shared. “One judge told me she loved it!”

More specifically, the maneuver that gets everyone’s attention occurs at the beginning of the team routine, where sophomore Heidi Merrier and senior Heather Ristow are lifted completely out of the water by their six teammates. Nice, yes. But then Merrier is thrown over the top of Ristow, while also performing an inward dive.

“It is a really exciting moment, and for me it was fun to watch the faces of the opposing team,” Davison said. “Let’s just say they were impressed.”
